Chef

As a boy Ryan watched his grandmother cook with fascination. By the age of 8, he knew that one day he would become a Chef. At 17, Ryan was hired by The Royal Hawaiian restaurant in Laguna Beach. He began his career assisting in the kitchen from prep to cooking to plating entrees. When the lead chef left, Ryan was promoted to Sous Chef. He states, "It was then that I realized the strong passion I had for cooking. I really enjoy making meals and watching people truly love and savor them. It makes me feel really good about my work and what I do." Ryan continued working for The Royal Hawaiian for the next 5 years. During that time period he also took on a few other jobs; Chef at The Beach House Restaurant in Dana point; Chef at K'ya Bistro in Anaheim at Hotel Menage. Further, he began teaching cooking classes at Sur La Table, in Newport Beach, where he currently teaches classes 3-4 times a week. Ryan reiterates, "I love to take classic meals and convert them into very healthy, organic but delicious satisfying dishes. I have an understanding of healthy eating, I grew up on it, my family has always been very healthy Organic eaters. I am familiar with the effects food has on the body. My goal is to serve our San Diego drug rehab clients food for optimal heath and focus on a nutritional diet."
